Blog 5: Media Sex/Violence in Movies

Media violence or sex effect people in different ways. Some people are desensitized and some people are sensitized towards sex and violence in the media. The effects include physiological effects, cognitive effect, behavioral effect, and attitudinal effect. Physiological shows mediated sexuality may arouse people. Cognitive shows people can learn about sexuality through the media. Behavioral shoe mediated sex may teach behavior. And attitudinal shows people exposed to mediated sex follow a pattern that includes rating their significant other was less satisfying rather the importance of marriage and monogamy lower and showing great acceptance of pre and extramarital sex.
In this content analysis on media violence/sex, there were scenes of coerced and forced and many more as shown below. It is not surprising about the different graphics viewed in the movie "Saw". In my opinion, everyone should not have access to mediated violence/sex movies if they are sensitized about what they view. Especially children should not have access at all to violence/sex movies because of the different effects they may cause. Below is a content analysis on a violent/sex movie. These categories may set off some effects to certain people especially children.
